NEW YORK—October 16, 2018—Morgan James Faith’s new book release, Origins: The Ancient Impact and Modern Implications of Genesis 1-11 by Douglas Jacoby and Paul Copan, explains the true meaning behind the Biblical book of Genesis through the context of the ancient culture, while also addressing its modern applications. It provides Christians with a better understanding of scripture and gives unbelievers a convincing explanation.
Though many Christians grew up in church and have read Genesis many times before, Sunday school does not often teach believers about the culture of the ancient Near East. Without a proper knowledge of this context, the Bible can often be misinterpreted, especially in passages such as Genesis 1-11. Origins explains the original meaning and significance behind these chapters, turning the common misconceptions on their heads.
Some find the early passages of Genesis to be “stumbling blocks” or “problem passages”, however this perception is based upon various misunderstandings of the scriptures. Origins helps shift peoples’ perspectives on Genesis, offering the Biblical solutions to their doubts. It explains how culture, literature, religions, geography, and other factors influenced the way the Bible was written, while acknowledging both the ancient and modern agendas.
