NEW YORK Dec. 14, 2021 Morgan James’ new release, Oh, the Pics That You’ll Post!, by Los Angeles based Artist, Maiana Rose, puts a millennial twist on the Dr. Seuss Classic, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and serves as a light cautionary tale about seeking stardom on social media.
Oh, the Pics That You’ll Post! speaks to anyone who has ever used social media, from beginners to veterans and influencers alike. The brilliance of the book lies in its reframing of the timeless classic about embarking on life’s journey, by placing social media at the crux of the tale. In doing so. satirizing the extent to which a gram-obsessed generation places value on it, ultimately, pointing out that life most definitely exists without it. Maiana’s playful use of social- media-inspired lingo and original pop art illustrations, are geared towards tweens, teens and 20-somethings, in hopes to inspire readers to check their own relationship to Instagram and like platforms.
Maiana Rose’s LA centric, Instagram-inspired illustrations were the original creative behind Oh, The Pics That You’ll Post!. Her aim is to separate her audience from their screens, even if momentarily, to raise more conscientiousness around the use of social media. Oh, the Pics That You’ll Post! teaches its readers the how-tos and faux pas of becoming an influencer, while reminding anyone struggling with their own relationship to social media that self worth should not be riding on a post. While acknowledging the oh-so alluring glitz and glam that the ‘gram has to offer, her final message warns readers that with a screen in the way, they may miss out on the treasures that exist in the present moment.

About the Author: Maiana Rose attended Pitzer College for her undergraduate, graduating in 2014 with a BA in interdisciplinary media studies, fine arts, and anthropology. After which, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment and art. Maiana found an avenue to meld her love of comedy and art when she decided to start an illustrated Instagram account from which she lovingly mocks social media trends.
