NEW YORK—Sept. 28, 2021—Morgan James’ new release, From Beyond the Skies: An Invitation Into the Wonder of Love, by Juli Boit, is a remarkable story of love, loss, and new life found in the dark while promoting understanding of the struggles of dealing with extreme medical treatment.

When Juli lands in Kenya for a short-term humanitarian mission she has no idea this place would capture her heart and change everything about her life. A trained and accomplished nurse practitioner from California, Juli comes face to face with the HIV pandemic in the villages where she is working. Drawn to the stories and people she meets, Juli partners with Kenyans to create a locally sourced solution to the problems she observes — most notably the utter lack of adequate hospice care & rehabilitation for adults and children suffering with HIV.

Upon founding Living Room International, a community led non-profit health and care center, her life is again upended when a three-pound, premature, newborn is brought to the center. She and Titus take him in with the determination to help him survive, later learning the baby and his two siblings have life-threatening sickle cell disease. Invited into a journey of life and death, discovering how to love in ways deeper than either of them had ever experienced, the couple endeavored to travel 10,000 miles from their home in Kenya back to the United States in search of life saving medical care. From Beyond the Skies provides a language for parents of children going through medical treatment and the challenges of adoption while delivering an incredible tale of courage and love.

In the aftermath of this unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing global response, Juli’s journey is an example of how one woman’s resilience and vulnerability can be met with the strength of a community who shows up to hold joy and pain together, celebrating life’s tragedy and triumphs, and bring healing to a family that resonates throughout a village and country. A short-film introducing many of the characters we meet in Juli’s book will premiere at Justice Film Festival in New York City this November.
