NEW YORK—April 13, 2021—Morgan James’ new release, When I Fell: How I Rerouted My Life and Found Strength in a Severed Spine by Michael Murphy, depicts how a sudden, traumatic injury can irreversibly shape and change an individual’s life.

When Michael Murphy was 21, he fell off of a roof at college and landed flat on his back, severing his spine. Murphy shares his story in When I Fell, explaining the challenges of adjusting to limited mobility and ultimately finding empowerment within his disability. By detailing the story of Murphy’s recovery and including the science of Posttraumatic Growth (PTG), When I Fell teaches victims of trauma how to survive setbacks and inspires them to take control and grow stronger.

When I Fell provides support for victims of spinal cord injuries, as well as family members of those dealing with trauma. In addition to sharing the details of his life in a wheelchair, Michal Murphy addresses the legitimate possibilities of adaptive sports for motivated individuals. Murphy’s writing delivers a timely dose of hope and humor for times when life won’t go as planned.
