NEW YORK— October 13, 2020—Morgan James’ new release, Congo Sole: How a Once Barefoot Refugee Delivered Hope, Faith, and 20,000 Pairs of Shoes, by Emmanuel Ntibonera, shares a refugee’s experience fleeing from his country only to return years later to invest in local communities and bring hope to the downtrodden.
Featuring a firsthand account of the chaos, violence, and fear of the Congo Wars, Congo Sole shows evangelical leaders, globally conscious human rights activists, and students not only a story of survival in the midst of unbelievable hardships, but how prayer and tenacious faith can change the course of a nation. Congo Sole shares the true story of Emmanuel Ntibonera, who escaped the tragedies of war as a boy, traveling with his family to America. Ntibonera emphasizes that God’s provision during this time in his life inspired him to give back, devoting his life to God’s work.
In Congo Sole, Emmanuel Ntibonera describes his return to the Congo as an adult, which exposed the disease, poverty, deficient infrastructure, and hopelessness he left behind. Ntibonera explains how, by providing gently used footwear to the people of the Congo, he was able to inspire restoration efforts in local communities and see the power of faith in action. Congo Sole tells the story of a man who had nothing but faith, endured hell, escaped, and, after living the American dream, decided to go back to the source of his in order to bring real, lasting change to a nation.
