NEW YORK- September 29, 2020- Morgan James’s new release, Unconditional: Learning to Navigate and Reframe Mental Illness Together by Allison and Piper Garner, helps individuals struggling with anxiety and depression to seek supportive bonds in times of suffering, rather than pushing loved ones away. Unconditional demonstrates the type of growth possible when parents work with their children to overcome psychological hardship.
Unconditional tells the story of Allison Garner and her daughter Piper as they face Piper’s battles with anxiety and depression. With open honesty, Allison explains her experience parenting a child with anxiety and depression, while Piper shares excerpts from her journal, exposing the truth of her internal monologue. Allison encourages parents, letting them know that it’s okay not to have all the answers, so long as they work hard to provide the right support for their child.
In Unconditional, Allison Garner focuses on providing safe and healthy resources for her daughter, which allowed Piper to grow at her own pace. Each chapter contrasts the parent and child experience of growth and recovery. Allison’s approach can be used by parents in similar situations, hoping that their children will seek recovery and find healing while strengthening their relationship with their child. Ultimately, Piper and Allison’s personal story demonstrates the realities of mental illness and the power of love and support on an individual’s mental health journey.
