NEW YORK—July 10, 2018—Morgan James’s new release, Life to the Years: Living A Robust Life After Heart Disease by Michael James DO FACC and Michael Ranville, provides readers with insights on overcoming the expectation of a sedentary lifestyle that comes with heart disease, from the personal experience of a physician and his patient.

There was a time when a heart disease diagnosis was a death sentence. Sufferers were condemned to a life of monitored dieting, carefully restricted activity, and a ticking clock. However, amazing advances have been made in the cardiac healthcare field, and patients can now go on to live vigorous, robust lives even after a heart attack. Doctor-patient team Dr. Michael James and Michael Ranville decided to approach Ranville’s post-heart attack life as a journey of recovery and restoration, and thus paved the way for others to seize control of their lives after heart disease.

In Life to the Years, James and Ranville share lively anecdotes, medical insights, and their own personal journey with heart disease and recovery. After Ranville suffered a severe heart attack, his cardiologist Dr. James told him it was a miracle that he lived through it. As they tell the story of how Ranville re-entered life, they explore the development of life-saving cardiac technology, options in cardiac treatment, and the human aspect of disease that continues to drive the medical field.

When faced with their own mortality, everyone has two options: choose a slow-paced, sedentary lifestyle that could prolong their life by a few years, or live actively and make the most of their years. Life to the Years: Living A Robust Life After Heart Disease provides both doctor and patient insights on the best course of action for cardiac patients, and how to face death with dignity, grit, and grace.
