NEW YORK—April 5, 2016–Morgan James’s new release, Phoenix Rising: Stories of Remarkable Women Walking Through Fire by Kristen Moeller and Leslie Aplin Wharton, is a compilation of essays written by women who have experienced devastating loss in the flames of wildfires.
How do you go on after you’ve lost everything? This is the question that plagues families in the wake of a natural disaster. After a series of devastating wildfires swept through the state of Colorado, leaving smoking ruins and barren hillsides behind, the lives of thousands of families were turned upside down. Homes and loved ones were lost to the flames, and entire communities were ravaged. In Phoenix Rising, twenty strong survivors tell the tales of how they went on after losing everything to the fires.
Co-authors Kristen Moeller and Leslie Wharton both tragically lost their homes to the Colorado wildfires. Meeting later by chance, the two were able to find a bond through their shared tragedy and find strength in being able to share their stories. Wanting to provide this same comfort, understanding, and camaraderie to other survivors, they compiled this collection of essays penned by twenty brave women who suffered the same tragic losses.
In the pages of Phoenix Rising, these remarkable women share not only the stories of their loss, but the stories of how they rebuilt their lives and came out stronger than ever. Their messages of strength and perseverance offer encouragement to any reader, highlighting the courage and resilience lying in each of us. Phoenix Rising: Stories of Remarkable Women Walking Through Fire leads readers through a range of emotions, from fear to bravery, grief to hope, and mourning to compassion. Through sharing in these journeys, Phoenix Rising inspires readers to find strength in their own personal tragedies.
