NEW YORK–April 1, 2014–Morgan James Publishing’s (www.Morgan-James.com) new release Let the Church be the Church: Facing the Lack of Moral Leadership Accountability in Christianity by Bobby E. Mills, Ph.D. urges Christians to remember who started the church and what its most important values should be.
Readers today know that the American church is struggling. Numbers are declining as well as its morals. Many people have fallen for the “prosperity gospel” and seek fame and fortune over Biblical truth. Mills argues that part of the problem stems from current pastors who are not teaching from a gospel foundation. Many have become focused on their own personal gain, rather than obeying God’s will.
In Let the Church be the Church, Mills takes his readers back to where it all began, with God. God created the church through His Son, Jesus. It was to be holy and set-apart. After Jesus ascended, the church became His body on earth. Theoretically, it should be serving society, spreading God’s love and the gospel.
The problem is, Mills asserts, that the church focuses on its membership and financial growth, rather than teaching godly principles and doctrines. “Since…Sunday morning is still the most segregated time in American society, we must conclude that the Christian church does not believe in justice for all or the philosophy of love thy neighbor as thyself.” The church has become hypocritical and doesn’t practice what it preaches.
Let the Church be the Church is a call to return to the gospel. Mills speaks the truth with love, but it is a tough love. He reminds Christian readers what it really means to be a Christ-follower. The church is more than just four walls. He claims that the church has a responsibility to society. American Christians are citizens just like anyone else. They are able to vote and send their children to public schools if they wish. Mills encourages them to stand for justice and God-based morality. He is not afraid to tackle difficult issues such as “blending Christianity into the educational process or government and politics.”
Bobby E. Mills has taken a bold stand, but his readers will appreciate his honesty. Let the Church be the Church is a wake-up call to the complacent and corrupt American church. Jesus is coming back, Mills proclaims. Will the church be ready for Him?
