NEW YORK—March 8, 2022—Morgan James’ new release, Turns Out Teachers are Human Too, by Kelsey Mills and illustrated by Tomasz Plaskowski, is a children’s book that shares student’s points of view of teachers and their tattoos.
When the students of an elementary school find out teachers have tattoos, they can’t understand why the teachers are trying to hide them. However, one student from the rest sees past the tattoos and recognizes that they have no impact on who the teachers are as people.
Turns Out Teachers are Human Too teaches children that looks do not define a person or their ability to do the right thing, and normalizes teachers having tattoos. In addition to showing parents that teachers can still do their jobs even if they have tattoos, Turns Out Teachers are Human Too fosters self-esteem, encourages children to not hide parts of themselves, and teaches not to judge others’ life choices.
